First impressions – team by team testing analysis

New cars for Formula One made their debut at Jerez. They showed up after extreme period of developing them. We take look at this amazing opening in Spain to see how teams are looking now.

-Ferrari: They had the highest score in four days, how much they’ve spent in Jerez. They have two big quickest times. But we could see that they’ve taken some caution; Last year they had the fastest guy on the day of opening but had the worst season after, but this year SF15-T is definitely a great improvement. They’ve made progress in all departments of team. They are certainly trying not to get carried away, but they are aware of the progress which gives a right to be optimistic.

-Sauber: On a first test this year they showed up with entirely new car; new driver line and new color scheme. They definitely hew new sense of hope, since 2014 was not so good for them. C33 gave them some troubles but it won’t happen again with C34 since it is highly improved. They are going in the right direction and started doing glory runs with low fuel.

-Mercedes: They definitely stayed a star on the field. Their focus for this year was mainly on the reliability. Since they had a great success in 2014, they are planning to keep it that way in 2015 as well. They had an amazing 516 laps (in total) and none of the other teams has even reached more than 400. A big focuse of theirs are run plans. Other teams have been trying to go faster but guys from Mercedes had different strategy – to go further and learn more. All that with the fact that their platform is the best, so it was somewhat easy to put a new car for 2015 on it. Their rivals should be a little intimidated.

-Williams: They made a strong start, and 2014 was also great. It was obvious that they are keeping their powder dry the same as Mercedes. They are very evasive about the chances for this year. They were happy with their new FW37, sins it showed good in Spain. They described them as a very reliable package which will be great to work with. New machine has an amazing potential and the whole team is very satisfied. A lot of performance is expected from this new engine.

-Toro Rosso: They have definitely the youngest driver in the whole history of Formyla1. At Jezer stay set up their goal to make a great mileage, and their drivers tried to make it happen. They had more laps than in the past, but still not more when compared with Sauber and Mercedes. While in Spain they were not very spectacular, but they used their time right to do a lot of exercise. Still they expect a good year.

– Red Bull: Their start in 2014 was a catastrophe. But this year it was much better, but they still haven’t completed enough laps as they planned to, with new RB11. They haven’t done everything they planned, but they succeeded to finish the major items. We will have to wait and see if their power unit has made a huge step in improvement. We are expecting plenty of speed, and we know that their focus while in Jeres was mainly on long runs.
